Snowflake launches free AI data training for users
Wed, 4th Nov 2026 (Today)
Snowflake has launched Snowflake Practitioner, a free foundational training course for customers and partners worldwide. The programme is available in instructor-led and on-demand formats.
The course is designed to give users a structured introduction to data and artificial intelligence work on the Snowflake platform. It is offered in public and private instructor-led sessions, as well as a self-paced version, and includes 30 days of access to hands-on labs.
Snowflake Practitioner is built around a two-day curriculum, with a self-paced route for learners who do not take the live course. The training is organised around three user groups: Data Analysts, Data Engineers and Platform Administrators.
Each group begins with a shared lecture component before moving into role-specific labs. The labs cover tasks such as querying, reporting and visualisation for analysts; pipelines, data loading and transformation for engineers; and security, roles, access control, cost management and monitoring for administrators.
The course also includes Snowflake CoCo, the company's coding agent for data teams, across all three learning tracks. This is intended to expose users to AI-based tools during the practical part of the training.
Skills push
The launch expands Snowflake's education efforts as companies seek staff with stronger data and AI knowledge. The company said its broader education programmes have already reached hundreds of thousands of learners globally, and described the new course as a way to widen access for existing customers and partners by removing fees for entry-level training.
Snowflake presented the programme as part of its response to a wider skills shortage in AI and data-related work. It also suggested the training could help organisations standardise baseline knowledge across teams as use of data platforms spreads beyond specialist technical staff.
Denise Persson, Chief Marketing Officer at Snowflake, said access to training should begin at the outset of a commercial relationship.
"World-class platform education should be the starting point for every customer and partner relationship," said Denise Persson, Chief Marketing Officer, Snowflake.
"Snowflake Practitioner reflects our commitment to democratising AI fluency by making essential training accessible to every customer and partner from day one. As part of our broader goal to equip the next generation of digital leaders, opening access to foundational data and AI skills creates the shared language essential for the agentic enterprise, enabling the entire organisation to move faster from insight to action across every function," Persson said.
Role-based model
Snowflake said the training follows a "learn together, apply separately" model, under which mixed groups receive common instruction before splitting into role-based practical sessions.
The approach reflects a wider trend in enterprise software training, with companies increasingly tailoring introductory education to business functions rather than offering a single general course. The aim is often to shorten onboarding time and make training more directly relevant to daily work.
After completing the foundational course, users can continue into more specialised role-based learning. Snowflake also pointed to SnowPro Certification as a further step for those seeking formal accreditation, although certification exam fees still apply.
Customer view
Swedbank is among the organisations Snowflake cited as already using the training.
"Snowflake Practitioner delivered immediate, role-tailored fluency across our team instead of high-level theory," said Jelena Korotõtš, Data & Platform Engineering Lead, Swedbank.
"Based on feedback from our initial Practitioner class, we have scheduled regular sessions through 2027. The training will become an essential part of how we onboard and scale our data talent, helping us move faster from concept to execution. Participants particularly valued the hands-on learning and practical guidance, which help teams apply their knowledge in real-world scenarios and strengthen data capabilities across the organisation," Korotõtš said.
Snowflake said the training is now available globally to customers and partners in both live and self-paced formats.
