Snowflake, the data cloud company, has officially announced the appointment of Vijayant Rai as the new Managing Director for its operations in India. Rai steps up to the post succeeding Vimal Venkatram, who has transitioned to a regional role for Snowflake, based in Singapore.
Vijayant Rai boasts broad experience spanning over 27 years in senior sales positions across various leading companies. He has been instrumental in driving new business, growing revenue, expanding operations in India, and attracting and retaining talent.

In his new role, Rai will be chiefly responsible for Snowflake's business expansion across India. This will entail overseeing strategy, sales, and execution, fostering strategic partnership engagements across the country, and driving the adoption of Snowflake's Data Cloud across a vast array of industries including retail and CPG, manufacturing, public sector, startups, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and BFSI.
When asked about his vision for the role, Rai stated that India is a dynamic growth market in the process of transitioning into a data-driven economy. "As Managing Director, my primary focus will be to help our customers fully mobilise their data into successful business outcomes."
Rai expressed his excitement at joining Snowflake at a pivotal time when they have recently announced new features such as Snowflake Cortex currently in private preview which demonstrates the company's commitment to driving innovation in the Indian market. "I look forward to working with the talented team at Snowflake India to support our customers in their quest for growth," he added.

He further stated that he firmly believes Snowflake's operations in India are at an inflection point of wider adoption across all industries and with Rai's successful track record in building and scaling businesses, he is confident that Rai will spearhead their expansion in the local market and drive strong growth across all of their portfolios.
Prior to his appointment at Snowflake, Rai served as the Executive Director for Microsoft India and was the Country Leader for the BFSI industry segment in the Samsung company. No stranger to leadership roles, he has assumed significant roles in companies such as Salesforce, SAP, and CA Technologies.
