Persistent Systems partners with AWS for AI solutions
Thu, 4th Jan 2024

Persistent Systems, a world-leading authority in Digital Engineering and Enterprise Modernisation, has unveiled a multi-year Strategic Collaboration Agreement with Amazon Web Services (AWS). This joint endeavour aims to accelerate innovation and the development of generative AI solutions for clients. Long affiliated with AWS, Persistent is known for its early adoption of generative AI throughout various industry verticals, leveraging services such as Amazon CodeWhisperer and Amazon Bedrock.

Amazon CodeWhisperer, a generative AI-powered coding recommendation tool, streamlines the application-building process in over 15 coding languages across various development environments. Amazon Bedrock, on the other hand, offers a fully managed service, enabling the integration of foundation models from leading AI firms for constuction and scaling of generative AI applications through an API.

The collaboration significantly enhances Persistent's capacity to impact its clients adopting generative AI. With increased access to AWS resources, Persistent can construct proofs of concept to help clients identify tangible business outcomes from generative AI. This enhanced access also supports use case discovery and the rapid creation of solutions, buttressed by additional go-to-market funds from AWS. A noteworthy advantage for clients of both parties will be the ongoing early access to AWS's generative AI services, helping them realise their aspirations for growth, improved time-to-market, and enhanced customer experiences.

Building on Persistent's 30-plus-year heritage in software engineering, this agreement draws upon its best practices from over 120 AWS engagements for cloud migration and modernisation. It also utilises the experience of its 2,500 AWS practitioners to provide customisable, scalable, generative AI-powered solutions. Furthermore, the company's AWS Migration Competency status is testament to its proven cloud expertise, helping clients transition smoothly to AWS through all stages of intricate migration projects. This alliance will enable clients to deploy powerful, cloud-based generative AI solutions, reflecting Persistent's ability to construct a robust cloud infrastructure which is crucial in today's AI-first and cloud-first world.

According to Rajiv Sodhi, Senior Vice President Hyperscaler Business & Strategic Alliances at Persistent, "Enterprises across industries are looking to tap into the transformative potential of generative AI to reimagine, redefine, and rethink their business models for improved customer experiences and business growth. AWS will help us scale generative AI adoption among our clients so they can identify and implement use cases where this technology can have a real impact." He underlined the commitment to help clients achieve their technology targets by leveraging the agility, breadth of services, and rapid innovation that AWS offers.

Expressing similar sentiments, Chris Sullivan, Vice President, Worldwide System Integrator Partners at AWS, conveyed his delight at the partnership with Persistent, as it helps their customers accelerate growth, enable business transformation, and enhance their digital experience. He added, "Together, we aim to redefine what's possible with generative AI, setting new standards for efficiency, innovation, and technological advancements."

Illustrating the transformation potential of generative AI, Quan Yang, Vice President of Research IT at Regeneron, observed how it offers novel opportunities to revolutionise the life sciences industry. He stated, "With Persistent's Digital Engineering expertise, powered by the AWS platform, Regeneron's research and pre-clinical development teams help bring our new life-savings drugs to market faster."
