Oppo brings AI-rich ColourOS 16 to Reno15 phones in India

Fri, 16th Jan 2026

Oppo has rolled out ColourOS 16 for its Reno15 series in India, adding system-level AI tools, new animation and rendering features, and expanded cross-device sharing across Apple and Windows devices.

The company said the software update focuses on interface responsiveness, background app behaviour, and longer-term device support. Oppo also outlined an update policy for the Reno15 series that includes five major ColourOS version upgrades and six years of security updates.

System Changes

ColourOS 16 introduces new animation behaviour across the home screen, app drawer and search views. Oppo said animations in its own apps now start from the point of touch and return to place when dismissed.

The update includes two system components that Oppo describes as new engines. Oppo calls them the Luminous Rendering Engine and the Trinity Engine. The company said the first renders visual components in parallel. It said the second targets intensive workloads such as gaming and multitasking. Oppo also linked the changes to power efficiency during extended use.

Cross-Device Sharing

Oppo has also expanded cross-device continuity features in ColourOS 16. The company said users can move files, notes and other content between smartphones, tablets and computers.

ColourOS 16 includes O+ Connect and an updated Touch-to-Share feature. Oppo said the tools work across Apple and Windows devices as well as within Oppo's own hardware range.

Design Updates

ColourOS 16 adds a refreshed visual design. Oppo said it takes cues from light and shadow effects found in natural scenes.

The update also introduces what the company calls the Flux Home Screen. Oppo said users can resize folders and icons by long-pressing and adjusting them into different shapes, including tall, wide, or large layouts. The company said the rest of the home screen shifts around the resized elements with animation.

AI Features

ColourOS 16 adds several AI features at the system level, including translation, transcription, summaries and writing assistance. Oppo said these features appear in tools such as AI Super Toolbox and Smart Sidebar based on what the user has on screen.

Oppo also listed AI Translate, AI Call Translator, AI Call Summary and AI Voice Scribe as integrated functions. The company said an enhanced Voice Recorder works across calls, meetings, videos and travel scenarios. It said the tools convert spoken and written information into notes and summaries.

The update also adds AI Mind Space. Oppo described it as a place to capture and organise on-screen information. The company said a three-finger swipe up captures what is on the screen and saves it to Mind Space. Oppo said the feature groups related items and organises content across different apps.

Google Gemini also features in the update. Oppo said Gemini is built into ColourOS 16 and works with AI Mind Space. The company said Gemini can summarise meetings, rewrite content, answer questions and draft text using information already on the device.

Support Commitment

Oppo linked ColourOS 16 on the Reno15 series to longer-term performance and security support. It said devices are designed to avoid slowing down with age. It described this as "6-Year Fluency Protection".

Oppo said it used internal ageing tests that simulate extended real-world use. The company listed app launches, boot times, multimedia response and installations among the measures. It also said the Reno15 series will receive five major ColourOS version updates and six years of security updates.

Camera And Editing

ColourOS 16 adds AI Portrait Glow as part of its photo editing tools. Oppo said the feature optimises skin tones and balances light in portraits taken in poor lighting with a single tap.

The company said AI Portrait Glow sits alongside AI Eraser, AI Unblur and AI Reflection Remover. It described these as one-tap photo editing tools within the system's editing suite.

OPPO has designed the Reno15 Series to avoid slowing down with age, and it will continue expanding ColourOS and internet services alongside its Find and Reno device lines.
