NetDocuments unveils ndMAX Studio with 12 AI legal apps

Yesterday

NetDocuments has announced the launch of the ndMAX Studio, featuring 12 artificial intelligence (AI) applications for legal professionals to enhance efficiency in their document management processes.

The ndMAX Studio offers applications such as "Deposition Prep" and "Issues List Generator," designed to assist legal professionals in executing core tasks while reducing manual labour and minimising the risk of human error. The aim is to maximise the productive use of billable hours without requiring legal users to develop their own use cases from scratch.

The integration of seamless import/export tools in the ndMAX Studio facilitates the smooth incorporation of AI applications into the Document Management System (DMS). Accompanied by on-demand training and demonstration materials, the studio enables legal professionals to rapidly employ AI in their workflows.

Mollie Cottam from Spark Communications highlighted, "ndMAX Studio is a go-to hub for AI and automation in legal work. Whether a firm or legal team is just getting started or looking to take their AI strategy to the next level, this dedicated space is packed with hands-on resources — videos, demos, and ready-to-use apps – all designed to help you see real value from AI on day one."

The platform aims to provide legal professionals with the confidence to explore and implement AI, supported by a growing collection of AI applications tailored to real-world legal scenarios. Further resources include training materials geared towards mastering prompt engineering and application development, as well as video demonstrations of app functionalities.

The ndMAX Studio currently hosts 12 AI applications aimed at addressing common legal tasks, with an expansion planned for the near future. This resource serves a broad audience, including law firms, in-house counsel, and government agencies, by facilitating service scalability and routine task automation.

Among the initial offerings is the "Playbook Generator," designed to automate and streamline contract negotiations. The app reviews historical contracts to generate customised playbooks, thereby reducing the time and effort typically associated with manual review. It provides benefits such as increased efficiency in negotiations and improved consistency in contractual terms.

The "Issues List Generator" employs generative AI for contract reviews by extracting and categorising critical issues, making it a useful tool for checklist creation and topic organisation for further analysis. This could help ensure accuracy and maintain confidentiality while simplifying the identification of issues in legal documents.

For litigation readiness, "Deposition Prep" assists in the preparation of depositions by generating outlines based on exhibits, previous transcripts, and case summaries. This functionality is intended to save time, improve preparation, and ensure no crucial details are overlooked during litigation processes.

NetDocuments also offers an App Builder within the ndMAX Studio, allowing legal professionals to customise and create apps tailored to specific needs without significant development resources. This aspect helps circumvent the traditional choice between investing in multiple standalone solutions or deploying IT resources for custom applications.

By integrating AI within its intelligent document management system, NetDocuments aims to provide a cohesive and flexible solution that aligns with legal professionals' existing infrastructure of knowledge, documents, and emails.
