Fluree introduces public preview of their new JSON-Linked-Data Database
Fluree, the data engineering firm known for its knowledge graph database and semantic data pipeline toolset for secure and trusted data sharing, has unveiled the public preview of its new JSON-Linked-Data Database (JSON-LD). This release has garnered the attention of coding and data professionals internationally with over 100,000 downloads to date.
The new JSON-LD database is a cloud-based solution that enables composable, decentralised data management. It also offers a knowledge graph database with built in policy, trust, and interoperability. JSON-LD's data format extends JSON to enable linked data capabilities, a much-needed innovation offering a quicker path to graph for JSON developers.
Brian Platz, the CEO of Fluree, highlighted how this innovation responds directly to the needs of data developers, providing them with an integrated platform that was purpose-built for collaboration and data sharing. "Fluree provides developers with an out-of-the-box graph database purpose-built for collaboration and sharing reusable data products with shared schemas and policies," said Platz. "The features in our latest version are particularly attractive to developers working in decentralised environments, where digital trust, data policies and semantic interoperability are paramount. We're thrilled to work with these developers as we continue to enable more data-centric architectures for trusted, re-usable data products."
Given the reports that nearly 80% of knowledge workers claim parts of their data are siloed, and 68% say a lack of visibility into cross-functional projects negatively impacts their work, Fluree's latest innovation could be a game-changer. Jake Parsell, Fluree's lead product engineer for their cloud offering, expressed the company's vision as enabling functional teams to work together on data more efficiently. "Fluree's primary goal is to enable functional teams to work on data together, streamlining collaboration across the data value chain... Fluree is empowering users to share and collaborate on operational and analytical data in one place, seamlessly."
JSON-LD offers several advantages over traditional data storage solutions, including simplifying integration across data sources and accommodating evolving business requirements for machine-generated or web-based data. It transforms the data into a verifiable web interchange format, augmenting the utility of JSON for the entire linked data ecosystem. Eliud Polanco, Fluree's President, stated, "At a time when data silos are on the rise and data integration is becoming more costly and complex, Fluree provides developers with a platform that, by default, unsilos their data."
The firm plans to roll out general availability of this new database by the end of the year. In the meantime, developers can access Fluree as a hosted platform with an intuitive UI for data management, sharing, and development.
