Crompton crowned world's top ceiling fan maker by 2024
Crompton has been ranked as the world's number one ceiling fan brand by Euromonitor International, based on global retail unit sales for calendar year 2024.
Euromonitor said it used custom research that drew on its Passport database, desk research, company disclosures and interviews with experts across the value chain. It applied consistent category and channel definitions worldwide and ranked brands on global retail unit volumes.
Crompton sells more than two crore fans a year. The company said it sells one fan every two seconds.
"I am immensely proud that Crompton, a brand trusted by generations of Indian consumers, is today recognised as the world's No.1 ceiling fan brand. This milestone is not just a reflection of our past, but of the transformation we are driving through Crompton 2.0 - a future-focused journey built on deep investments in R&D, advanced manufacturing and next-generation technologies. Very few Indian brands have achieved this level of global leadership, and we remain committed to strengthening our 'Made in India' foundation while continuing to expand our global footprint," said Promeet Ghosh, Managing Director & CEO, Crompton.
R&D focus
Crompton said its product development work includes a dedicated R&D ecosystem with more than 200 experts. It said annual investment exceeds Rs. 100 crore.
The company cited fan features that it has introduced. They include Anti-Dust technology, Air 360° airflow and SilentPro technology for quieter operation.
Crompton also highlighted its innovation platforms, X-Tech and Nucleus. It said the platforms relate to induction motor and BLDC motor technologies.
Ghosh described these platforms as part of the company's next stage of product development. "Our innovation platforms X-Tech and Nucleus represent the next chapter of this journey, enabling next-generation fan technologies that stay ahead of evolving expectations. Our focus is on building platforms that are future-ready by design - adaptable, scalable and globally competitive. At Crompton, we are not just responding to change - we are engineering the future of the category," said Ghosh.
Efficiency roadmap
Crompton said it is preparing to introduce a next generation of fans. It said the designs will align with BEE 2.0 and with later technology transitions it expects over the next three to four years.
Ceiling fans remain a mass-market product in India and other warm-weather markets, with efficiency standards and motor technology changes shaping product ranges. Brands have also expanded smart features and design-led models in premium segments.
Design awards
Crompton pointed to international design recognition for specific models in its SilentPro range. It said the SilentPro Blossom Smart Fan won the Good Design Award Japan 2024.
It also said it received the Red Dot Design Award 2025. It said the German Design Award 2026 recognised the SilentPro Fluido Wave.
Wider portfolio
Crompton operates in consumer electrical products beyond fans. The company sells residential pumps, lighting products and appliances that include water heaters, air coolers and small kitchen appliances.
It also has a business-to-business lighting operation for commercial and industrial customers. Crompton said it entered solar rooftops and offers solar-linked solutions across lighting and pumps.
Euromonitor's ranking places Crompton in a small set of Indian brands that claim global leadership in a specific product category on unit sales measures. Crompton said it plans further expansion outside India alongside ongoing investment in manufacturing and product development.
