Westcon-Comstor has signed a multi-region distribution agreement with Sonar, covering channel partners across EMEA and APAC.

Under the deal, Westcon-Comstor will offer SonarQube to partners in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and Asia-Pacific. The software verifies code in development workflows and identifies security vulnerabilities, exposed secrets and other issues before software goes into production.

The partnership reflects rising demand from customers that are adding artificial intelligence tools to software development while trying to limit security and governance risks. It gives Westcon-Comstor's reseller, systems integrator and service provider partners a route into projects tied to AI-assisted development and DevSecOps.

Sonar's technology is designed to sit within software development processes and provide automated analysis of code produced by developers and AI tools. Its approach aims to help organisations check code quality, spot flaws early and reduce the risk of production problems linked to AI-generated output.

Research cited by Sonar found that SonarQube users were 44% less likely to report AI-derived production outages. The company also said maintaining code quality with its tools can reduce token usage by 7% to 8%, with further reductions possible when AI agents are guided with governed context.

Channel focus

For Westcon-Comstor, the agreement adds a software development and code verification supplier to a distribution business better known for cybersecurity, networking and hybrid cloud. Partners will receive support through its distribution model, including technical enablement, market intelligence, lead generation, and help with customer adoption, expansion and renewals.

The distributor operates in more than 50 countries through its Westcon, Comstor and Rebura businesses. The agreement gives Sonar access to that reach as it looks to build a broader channel presence across the two regions.

Sonar has also been broadening its offering. Its recent acquisition of Gitar added AI code review to its portfolio, extending its focus beyond code analysis and verification into review processes aimed at teams using AI-native development tools.

The deal comes as vendors and distributors seek to position themselves around concerns that AI coding assistants may speed up software production while also introducing errors, vulnerabilities and governance problems if organisations do not put controls in place. That has opened opportunities for channel partners selling tools that help development and security teams work from a shared view of software risk.

Sonar describes its approach as an Agent Centric Development Cycle, or AC/DC. The framework sets out a guide, verify and solve process in which AI agents are given context and constraints, their output is checked through feedback loops, and issues are resolved before release.

Partner demand

Westcon-Comstor said the arrangement gives partners scope to expand DevSecOps work with customers that want to consolidate development and security tools on a single platform. It also pointed to commercial benefits for the channel, including recurring revenue tied to subscriptions, customer expansion and renewals.

Adam Davison outlined the distributor's view of the market opportunity.

“Sonar is a recognised leader in its field, and this collaboration represents both a compelling commercial opportunity and a strategic technology play for the channel,” said Adam Davison, Senior Director, Vendor Acquisition, Westcon-Comstor.

“The rapid adoption of AI-assisted software development, combined with the shift-left movement, is creating new openings for partners as software quality, governance and security become board-level priorities. At the same time, many organisations are looking to consolidate fragmented development and security toolsets onto a single platform. By combining Sonar's market-leading solutions with our enablement capabilities, technical expertise and international reach, we're empowering partners across EMEA and APAC to win new customers, expand existing relationships and drive sustainable revenue growth,” said Davison.

Sonar said the partnership would help it reach more customers through an established distribution network with experience in technical sales and partner support.

“Organisations are embracing AI to accelerate software development, but speed only creates value if teams can trust what gets shipped,” said Scott Musson, Vice President of Worldwide Channel, Sonar.

“Westcon-Comstor's global reach, channel expertise and value-added approach make it an ideal distribution partner for expanding Sonar's platform to more customers. Together, we can help partners support organisations as they scale AI and agentic coding with stronger verification, clearer governance, and greater confidence in every line of code,” said Musson.
