Tata Consultancy Services has launched the TCS Industrial Intelligence Foundry, an artificial intelligence offering for industrial enterprises.

The product is aimed at companies seeking to move beyond pilot projects and deploy AI at scale across engineering and manufacturing operations. It includes configurable AI agents, workflows and governance tools that can be integrated into existing industrial processes.

TCS is positioning the Foundry for use across aerospace, mobility, semiconductors, medical devices, industrial electronics, utilities and energy. It supports tasks including engineering intelligence, product development, manufacturing operations, asset performance, quality management and field service decision-making.

TCS said the Foundry can help manufacturers cut new product introduction timelines by 25% and improve manufacturing productivity by 20% to 25%. It added that productivity gains could exceed 40% as companies strengthen their data foundations and operating environments.

The launch comes as manufacturers seek practical ways to apply AI on factory floors and in product development. TCS pointed to wider industry demand for systems that combine domain knowledge with operational data and governance, rather than general-purpose tools that require companies to build applications from scratch.

Research cited by TCS shows four in five UK manufacturers are now trialling AI to strengthen operational resilience. That has shifted attention from experimentation to the more difficult task of rolling out AI systems across large, complex businesses.

Industry focus

The Foundry uses what TCS describes as a model-agnostic architecture, allowing companies to work across different AI ecosystems. It also combines vertical AI applications with multi-agent workflow orchestration and what TCS calls its Human+AI Service Autonomy Model, intended to maintain human oversight during deployment.

TCS said its context-aware approach draws on engineering data, industry standards, operational constraints and lifecycle information. The aim is to produce recommendations and actions suited to industrial settings, where safety, compliance and reliability are often critical requirements.

Ramachandran S, Practise Leader, Engineering and Manufacturing, HFS Research, said: "Most enterprise AI still lives on desktops, while there is untapped value on shop floors in industrial and physical AI. According to our research, industrial organizations plan to double their physical AI spending over the next two years. That is an opportunity to unlock latent value across engineering and manufacturing workflows, especially in critical areas where prevailing technologies fall short due to cost or functionality. Industrial Intelligence Foundry is TCS' bet to fill this gap with domain-specific AI, with the potential for significant business impact, scaling AI implementations and not just another agentic AI project."

Deployment challenge

Industrial groups have been under pressure to modernise product design, plant operations and maintenance without disrupting production. AI suppliers have responded with tools for automation, predictive maintenance and quality control, but many manufacturers still face hurdles around integration, governance and proving returns on investment.

TCS is seeking to address those issues with a package built around sector-specific workflows rather than broad consumer-style assistants. It said this approach is intended to make it easier for manufacturers to embed AI in established engineering and operational systems.

Sreenivasa Chakravarti, Global Head and Vice President of Industrial Autonomy and Engineering, TCS, said: "The next wave of industrial AI will be shaped by how effectively AI agents are orchestrated to transform engineering, plant systems, and asset-centric operations. While enterprises are scaling their use of AI agents, our firm belief is that the AI era will be won by context-aware agentic deployment across enterprises. With the Industrial Intelligence Foundry, TCS is helping enterprises to deploy domain-specific AI applications at scale that can accelerate autonomy and translate industrial knowledge into scalable business outcomes."

TCS reported consolidated revenue of more than USD $30 billion in its latest financial year and operates in 56 countries, with 194 service delivery centres worldwide.
