Skyroot Aerospace adopts Polarion to boost digital efficiency

Fri, 8th Aug 2025

Skyroot Aerospace has adopted Polarion software from the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio to enhance its software development processes and operational efficiency.

The Hyderabad-based space launch service provider will use Polarion to unify software and systems development workflows, improve traceability and compliance, and foster greater collaboration among engineering teams.

Enhancing digital processes

Established in 2018 by founders Pawan Kumar Chandana and Naga Bharath Daka, Skyroot Aerospace has quickly established itself within the Indian space sector. The company achieved a milestone in 2022 by launching Vikram-S, the first privately developed Indian rocket to reach space. Preparation is currently underway for the commercial launch of Vikram-1 as the company expands its operations with a workforce of more than 500 professionals.

Skyroot develops its launch vehicles using advanced manufacturing methods, including carbon composites and 3D-printed engines. - elements designed to provide affordable and flexible space transportation solutions for global customers.

Optimising efficiency

"As a fast-growing aerospace company serving a diverse set of global customers, optimizing our software lifecycle is essential to executing projects efficiently. Polarion provides a seamless solution to manage our software workflows, allowing our team to focus on what they do best. With Siemens' deep expertise in the aerospace industry, we know we have a trusted partner as we continue to push the boundaries of space technology," said Naga Bharath Daka, Co-founder & COO, Skyroot Aerospace.

By integrating Polarion into its processes, Skyroot aims to unify and streamline its product development from initial design through to deployment and maintenance. Improved traceability means that changes, requirements, and compliance documentation can be managed more effectively - a critical consideration for companies operating in regulated sectors such as aerospace.

The company is also seeking to create a more unified working environment for its engineering teams by enhancing opportunities for collaboration across different disciplines and project areas.

Supporting the Indian space sector

"Skyroot Aerospace is a true pioneer in both the Indian private space industry and globally, achieving remarkable growth and investment as it builds out its program – and its testament to its vision that is adopting Polarion to accelerate its digital transformation," said Mathew Thomas, Vice President and Managing Director for India, Siemens Digital Industries Software.
"The Indian space industry is set for growth and I'm delighted to see that home grown leaders such as Skyroot Aerospace are choosing Siemens as their trusted partner and we look forward to helping it achieve its mission to make spaceflight affordable, on-demand, and versatile."

Siemens Digital Industries Software partners with organisations to support digital transformation through solutions such as the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio. For Skyroot Aerospace, the adoption of Polarion signals an ongoing commitment to efficiency and quality in an increasingly competitive sector.

The collaboration places a particular emphasis on the compliance aspects of aerospace projects, with Polarion supporting Skyroot's ability to adhere to stringent industry regulations and standards. This approach is aimed at helping Skyroot maintain high safety and reliability levels essential for ongoing and future space missions.

Skyroot's commitment to adopting new technology and digital tools aligns with a broader trend in the Indian space industry, which is increasingly seeking robust platforms to support commercial launches and partnerships with global clients.

By leveraging both its engineering expertise and digital frameworks, Skyroot aims to expand its service offering in the commercial space sector, reflecting changes in the industry's approach to both technology adoption and global collaboration.
