OM SYSTEM launches OM-5 Mark II camera & pro lens in India
OM SYSTEM has announced the launch of two new imaging products in India, introducing the OM-5 Mark II interchangeable lens camera and the M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 50-200mm F2.8 IS PRO lens to the Indian market.
The company, which builds on the 85-year heritage of Olympus, has identified India as a key region in its Asia Pacific strategy. The launch is intended to strengthen OM SYSTEM's presence among outdoor photography enthusiasts and reinforce its dealer ecosystem, especially during India's festive season.
New camera and lens
The OM-5 Mark II is described as a refined interchangeable lens camera meant for photographers who require reliability, portability, and robust performance in varied conditions. According to OM SYSTEM, the camera continues the legacy of the OM-5 series but brings specific upgrades inspired by feedback from users who operate in outdoor environments.
The camera's design remains compact and lightweight, while featuring splash, dust, and freezeproof protection built to an IPX53 standard and capable of withstanding temperatures as low as -10°C. Notable enhancements in the OM-5 Mark II include 5-axis image stabilisation and a redesigned grip to improve ergonomics.
Alongside the camera, OM SYSTEM has launched the M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 50-200mm F2.8 IS PRO lens. This Super Telephoto Zoom Lens covers a focal range equivalent to 100-400mm (in 35mm terms) with a constant aperture of F2.8 throughout the zoom range. The lens has been engineered in accordance with the Micro Four Thirds System standard and is designed to deliver high resolution at every focal length.
The company highlights the compatibility of the lens with 5-axis sync IS, which is designed to offer up to 7.0 steps of compensation, allowing for handheld shooting even at extended focal lengths. OM SYSTEM targets this product at professionals and enthusiasts interested in wildlife, macro, birding, landscape, travel, and urban photography.
