NeoSapien links Solana token to LapTouch Mac touch bar
NeoSapien plans to launch a Solana-based token that links blockchain assets directly with pre-orders for a new touchscreen accessory for MacBooks.
The Florida-based technology company has developed the LapTouch Pre-Order Multiplier (LPM) Token as a utility token that sits alongside its LapTouch hardware. The token will provide holders with discounts, reservation priority and early access to the first production run of the device.
LapTouch is a bar-shaped touch sensor that sits along the base of a laptop screen and converts display interaction into touch-like input. NeoSapien describes the product as the first modern Mac-compatible continuation of the AirBar sensor, which Neonode previously sold for Windows laptops before discontinuing the line.
NeoSapien has worked with former AirBar engineers for the past three years on what it describes as a "spin-out" of the earlier product. The company has updated the underlying technology and added a dedicated macOS driver. It plans to hand-assemble the first production batch in the United States.
"With LapTouch, we're taking over a proven technology and modernizing it for today's MacBook ecosystem. Now millions of Mac users can now add touch at an affordable price," said Phillip Cantore, Founder & CEO of NeoSapien, Inc. (Toad Tech).
Token-based pre-orders
The LPM Token will function as a digital voucher that is tied to LapTouch hardware units. NeoSapien says the token will give holders a 20 per cent discount on LapTouch pre-orders, along with guaranteed reservation priority on upcoming production batches.
Token holders will also receive early access to product releases, beta testing programmes and community reward schemes. The company will manage allocations and redemptions through a blockchain-verified process on Solana.
"The LPM Token allows us to merge hardware pre-orders with Web3 blockchain utility, giving customers a frictionless, more transparent way to secure discounts and priority access to limited edition units. We hope that this inspires others to integrate more Real World Assets (RWA) onto the blockchain," said Cantore.
NeoSapien describes LPM as a real-world utility token. It says the token links directly to LapTouch hardware and that it has designed the structure as a voucher for product access rather than as a security.
Reviving AirBar for Mac
The original AirBar product created a touchscreen-like experience on Windows laptops. Neonode later stopped selling the device and began divesting related manufacturing assets and sensor inventory.
NeoSapien then engaged former AirBar engineering advisors and began work on an updated version aimed at Mac users. The company has focused on compatibility with recent versions of macOS and on a physical design that aligns with Apple's laptop line-up.
Key technical changes include support for the latest macOS release, updated firmware for the sensor, a proprietary driver for touch gestures, a refined aluminium housing and a USB-C interface with full configuration support. NeoSapien has also filed patent applications relating to detection and compatibility methods.
The underlying sensing principle still uses the "centre of gravity" light sensing approach that underpinned AirBar. NeoSapien has paired this with its macOS touchscreen driver, which adds tap, swipe, pinch-to-zoom, drag, rotate and gesture control on compatible MacBook models.
The company plans an initial run of 500 LapTouch units. It is targeting early adopters, online creators and members of the press who require advance hardware access. It says reservation timing will be significant given the limited size of the first batch.
Rollout schedule
NeoSapien has mapped out a three-phase rollout for both the token and the hardware. The company is opening a whitelist and early registration window ahead of the token's availability. It also plans a public technical preview of the LapTouch prototype and will run community-building efforts across Telegram, Discord and other social platforms.
The LPM Token launch on Solana will follow. Token holders will gain access to a limited pre-order window for LapTouch, along with discount codes delivered through a redemption portal. NeoSapien expects the first production batch of LapTouch devices to ship in the spring to early supporters, alongside a second major release of its macOS driver.
Hybrid model
NeoSapien positions LapTouch as one of the first consumer electronics products that uses a token-linked pre-order process. The company is combining a physical hardware roll-out with blockchain-based access controls and a structured redemption model for token holders.
Cantore said the focus sits on practical use rather than trading activity.
"Our focus is on utility and real-world use cases, not speculation," said Cantore. "We are a global AirBar distributor since 2018. This is a spin-out product line built upon prior generation of device with proven technology - the token simply makes the pre-order process more efficient, transparent and gives early supporters meaningful benefits."
