Milestone expands XProtect & Arcules with new tools

Thu, 30th Apr 2026 (Today)

Milestone Systems has released XProtect 2026 R1 and updated its Arcules cloud video platform, extending reporting tools and cloud video options across on-premises and cloud deployments.

The new XProtect release focuses on system administration, reporting, mobile use and device support. The Arcules updates add broader camera-to-cloud coverage, longer-term cloud storage and updated controls for connected cameras.

One of the main additions in XProtect 2026 R1 is an expanded version of XProtect Remote Manager, a browser-based management tool for Milestone Care Plus customers. The latest version introduces scheduled and customisable reports that turn technical information such as system health, performance indicators, maintenance records and inventory status into visual reports for different audiences.

The change addresses a common task for security teams and service providers, which often involves collecting technical system data and reworking it into material for managers, customers and other decision-makers. The reporting function is intended to reduce manual work for administrators and provide non-technical summaries of system performance and compliance.

The reporting feature is available for XProtect installations covered by Milestone Care Plus. It is also intended to help resellers and service providers present managed service performance across larger and multi-site deployments.

XProtect changes

Elsewhere, XProtect 2026 R1 includes a new LogServer interface designed to give users central visibility over logs, with filtering tools, notifications and workflow changes aimed at speeding up troubleshooting. These changes are geared towards more complex deployments where operators need to review events and issues across a wider estate.

The mobile client has also been updated with a What's New archive, allowing operators to revisit details of previously released features rather than relying on a single launch notice. This gives users a way to review product changes after the initial update has gone live.

Device support has also expanded. Device Pack 14.1 increases verified compatibility to more than 16,300 devices, including 181 newly added devices from 15 technology partners.

Cloud expansion

On the cloud side, Arcules has added support for Axis multi-sensor cameras in camera-to-cloud deployments, allowing multiple sensor views to be handled in the cloud without added on-premises hardware.

It has also added camera-to-cloud support for supported i-PRO cameras, broadening the range of devices that can connect directly to the Arcules platform without local servers or gateways.

Another change is the introduction of long-term cloud video storage. Organisations will be able to archive video in the cloud for extended periods while keeping it searchable and accessible, reducing the need to manage physical storage hardware on site.

The Arcules update also includes a WebSocket-based PTZ API for most ONVIF-connected cameras, intended to improve real-time pan-tilt-zoom control in automated workflows and third-party integrations.

For mobile users, Arcules now includes alert thumbnails for iOS devices. The addition gives users visual context alongside push notifications so they can assess events more quickly from a handset.

Andy Burnett, chief technology officer, said the updates reflect two areas of focus for the business.

"XProtect 2026 R1 and the latest Arcules enhancements reflect two priorities central to where Milestone is headed: advancing our core platform to deliver greater operational intelligence and accelerating our cloud capabilities to give customers more flexible, scalable options for deploying and managing video security," Burnett said.

"These updates create tangible value for everyone in the ecosystem, from operators in the field to the partners and decision-makers who depend on clear insight into system performance."
