Lenovo launches new AI solutions & services in partnership with NVIDIA

Mon, 1st Jul 2024

Lenovo Infrastructure Solutions Group (ISG) has unveiled a suite of enterprise artificial intelligence (AI) solutions aimed at advancing AI development and deployment across various industries. These new solutions incorporate partnerships with NVIDIA and focus on delivering energy-efficient AI-ready computing technology.

The latest offerings include comprehensive services with NVIDIA through the Lenovo AI Center of Excellence, validated AI Innovator solutions that span from pocket to cloud, and the 6th generation of Lenovo Neptune liquid cooling. These measures are designed to facilitate practical AI application while maintaining energy efficiency.

"We are thrilled to launch new comprehensive enterprise AI solutions and services. In partnership with NVIDIA and our AI Innovators bringing pocket-to-cloud solutions, Lenovo is making AI accessible and practical for businesses of all sizes," said Sumir Bhatia, President, AP, Lenovo ISG. "AI is not just a technology to be implemented; businesses need advanced technologies, tailored services, and energy-efficient infrastructure for effective deployment across industries. Lenovo's new solutions provide exactly this, ensuring companies can harness AI in real time while maintaining operational efficiency and sustainability. Our goal is to empower businesses to leverage AI effectively, driving transformation across all sectors."

Kumar Mitra, Managing Director and Regional General Manager, CAP & ANZ, Lenovo ISG, added, "Lenovo's new end-to-end AI solutions present a cornerstone in delivering unparalleled generative AI solutions to ANZ businesses. Committed to simplifying and better enabling real-world AI application, Lenovo aims to support and accelerate ANZ companies' unique AI ambitions across every industry, with its comprehensive ecosystem of services, solutions, and partners."

This announcement follows joint research conducted with IDC and NVIDIA, which identified generative AI as the top tech investment priority among IT and business decision-makers globally in 2024. Lenovo's new AI initiatives are part of the company's previously announced USD $1 billion investment over three years to hasten generative AI deployment. The goal is to streamline AI adoption, yield faster outcomes, and optimise performance and efficiency throughout the AI journey.

Lenovo's third annual global CIO report indicated that AI is the most urgent priority for IT, yet many organisations struggle with its implementation. The Lenovo AI Services Center of Excellence (COE) offers five stages combining business advisors, data scientists, and infrastructure to expedite AI outcomes. The centre now includes expanded services and new NVIDIA offerings to boost customer progress.

New AI Advisory Services aim to build upon a company’s AI readiness, discovery, and ideation, defining the desired outcomes and developing an AI roadmap at any scale. AI Fast Start for NVIDIA NIMS and AI Innovators services aim to expedite the deployment of validated, vertical generative AI applications and live solution demos, respectively.

The new portfolio includes over 165 AI Innovator Solutions providing AI-powered outcomes across sectors such as retail, hospitality, manufacturing, healthcare, finance, and smart cities. For instance, the Smart Manufacturing solution, developed with Graymatics, offers video-based analytics to enhance workplace safety and efficiency.

Additionally, Lenovo has expanded its AI PC portfolio and services. The NPU-enabled Lenovo ThinkPad T14s Gen 6 and other high-performance workstations are tailored to support AI development projects.

The 6th generation of Lenovo Neptune liquid cooling technology aims to extend its use to mainstream applications while improving efficiency. Lenovo indicates that its Neptune liquid cooling can reduce power consumption by up to 40% compared to air-cooled systems by recycling warm water and minimising the need for power-hungry fans.

New designs include on-memory cooling for ThinkSystem platforms and a GPU Cold Plate design capable of cooling accelerators with significant power requirements. Enhanced cold plate cooling aims to maximise heat extraction for high-power CPUs and accelerators.

Colocation partnerships with companies like Digital Realty further facilitate the adoption of high-performance private AI, even for customers with limited data centre capabilities.
