IIT Kanpur teams up with NMTronics for electronics manufacturing centre

The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK) is joining forces with NMTronics India to establish the NMTronics Center of Excellence for Electronics Manufacturing and Skills Development. The recently formed alliance marks a critical progression in driving industry and academic collaboration with the promise of significant research, technological innovation, and skill development in electronic manufacturing.

The partnership was officially ratified with a signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Professor Kantesh Balani, Dean of Resources and Alumni at IIT Kanpur, and Mr Soni Saran Singh, CEO, Founder, and Managing Director of NMTronics India. The Center will aim to encourage collaboration in research and development, providing advanced learning opportunities through IIT Kanpur's learning and development programmes.

According to Prof. S. Ganesh, Director of IIT Kanpur, this initiative demonstrates the institute's commitment to industry-academia partnerships. It promises to deliver technological expertise to the students and other stakeholders involved. He acknowledged NMTronics' generous contribution to the Center and highlighted its potential in driving socio-economic development through innovative research and industry collaboration.

Mr Soni Saran Singh, CEO, Founder and Managing Director of NMTronics India, expressed excitement about the partnership, remarking that the venture emphasises their commitment to driving innovation and creating value for customers. The CEO said, "We are thrilled to announce the establishment of the "NMTronics Center of Excellence for Electronics Manufacturing and Skills Development" on IITK Campus."

"This initiative highlights our unwavering commitment to driving innovation and creating value for our customers. By partnering with IIT Kanpur, we are harnessing the collective expertise of academia and industry to fuel technological advancements and shape the future of the electronic industry."

Prof. Kantesh Balani, Dean of Resources and Alumni at IIT Kanpur, highlighted the significant role NMTronics will have in advancing electronics manufacturing and skills development: "IIT Kanpur appreciates the generous support and progressive approach of NMTronics in promoting Electronics Manufacturing and Skills Development. This Center will promote strong industry-academia engagement and will play a pivotal role in manpower training with current industry practices for electronic industry."

The Center of Excellence is expected to become operational by August 2024 at the IIT Kanpur campus. It will support IIT Kanpur's course curriculum, offering advanced certification programmes for industry professionals and serving as a new product introduction (NPI) site for startups and small-scale enterprises. Furthermore, the Center will also focus on developing areas such as semiconductor technologies, embedded systems, the Internet of Things (IoT), and Artificial Intelligence (AI), turning conceptual manufacturing ideas into a tangible reality.

As an integral part of the alliance, NMTronics India will contribute technical knowledge and facilitate access to its leading, state-of-the-art facilities, demonstrating a commitment to fostering an innovative environment conducive to the development of advanced technologies with practical, real-world applications.
