IIM Sirmaur launches AI-focused MBA with INR ₹8,00,000 fee

Fri, 21st Nov 2025

The Indian Institute of Management Sirmaur has introduced what it describes as India's first MBA programme with artificial intelligence at its core, targeting working professionals seeking to build expertise in AI-led decision-making. Developed in partnership with Futurense Technologies, the two-year programme aims to equip mid-career managers with the skills necessary to navigate increasingly automated business environments.

Programmeme structure

The MBA will be delivered through live online sessions, complemented by two in-person campus immersion periods at the IIM Sirmaur facility. Participants can choose from five specialisations: AI-powered finance and fintech, marketing and growth with AI, AI in operations and supply chain management, AI-enabled tourism management, and business transformation with AI and agentic AI.

The curriculum is open to candidates with at least two years of professional experience. No prior coding knowledge is required, reflecting an emphasis on practical management applications of artificial intelligence rather than technical development. The fee for the two-year course is approximately INR ₹8,00,000.

Learning approach

The programme includes integrated AI labs, real-world business simulations, capstone projects mentored by faculty and industry experts, and access to the Futurense AI Clinic for enterprise projects. Learners will use over 30 tools currently adopted by industry, including ChatGPT, Looker Studio, Zapier, Tableau, and LangChain, supporting a focus on execution and applied learning.

Capstone projects and business simulations form a cornerstone of the assessment philosophy, with direct mentorship from IIM faculty and industry leaders guiding participants on how to apply classroom concepts in real business contexts.

AI in management

The structure of the MBA programme reflects a shift in management education as AI capabilities become integral to business strategy and operations. The integrated curriculum is designed to help professionals understand AI's organisational impact, apply it to improve efficiency, and lead teams that work alongside automated or intelligent systems.

"In the age of Artificial Intelligence, leadership is no longer about managing people, but about navigating change. The leaders of tomorrow will not just adapt to AI, they will lead with it," said Dr. Prafulla Agnihotri, Director, IIM Sirmaur.

Industry collaboration

Futurense Technologies, as admissions and industry partner, will facilitate real-world workflows and structured exposure to the practical uses of AI in business. Participants will be supported through the Futurense AI Clinic, where they can work on enterprise-level problems with guidance from both academic and industry mentors. The company's contribution centres on ensuring the curriculum reflects workplace realities for AI-driven roles.

"We're entering a new phase where managers are not just decision-makers but builders of intelligent systems. This program is designed to create leaders who can connect strategy with execution," said Raghav Gupta, Founder & CEO, Futurense Technologies.

On-campus experience

The blended learning model incorporates two campus immersions, giving participants opportunities to engage in leadership workshops and hands-on AI labs at IIM Sirmaur's Himalayan campus. These sessions are intended to provide networking opportunities and a deeper experiential component to the online course delivery.

Admissions and eligibility

Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree with at least 55 percent marks and have a minimum of two years of work experience. The first cohort is set to commence in early 2026, with the institute positioning the offering as part of a trend toward business education that aligns management training with contemporary technological shifts.
