Brandworks, SandLogic tie up for India edge AI push

Sat, 27th Dec 2025

Brandworks Technologies and SandLogic Technologies have agreed a strategic partnership to co-develop full-stack edge AI hardware in India, in a move that targets local control of chips, devices and software for next-generation electronics.

The two Bengaluru- and Mumbai-based firms plan to design and build AI-enabled products in India. They will combine Brandworks' product design, hardware architecture and manufacturing with SandLogic's work in edge AI chips and multilingual speech systems.

The companies said they aim to move intelligence directly onto devices. They intend to cut reliance on cloud infrastructure for processing and storage. They also plan to support Indian languages in offline environments.

On-device focus

Brandworks and SandLogic will jointly develop AI-enabled devices for use in areas such as voice assistants, intelligent internet-of-things systems and mobility applications. The partners are targeting scenarios where on-device processing is important for latency, security and offline use.

They plan to use edge AI chips and low-power co-processors from SandLogic in products that Brandworks will design and manufacture. The companies will also work on speech-enabled application programming interfaces that can run locally on hardware.

The products will process data on the device. This approach keeps more data away from remote servers and reduces round-trip time to the cloud.

Shift in electronics

The collaboration reflects a broader transition in India's electronics sector. Policymakers and industry groups have promoted local development in silicon design, firmware and embedded AI, in addition to assembly and contract manufacturing.

Brandworks positions itself as a design-led original design manufacturer and original equipment manufacturer. The company focuses on AI and IoT hardware, audio systems, power and charging products and automotive electronics.

SandLogic describes itself as a full-stack AI company. It develops edge-optimised AI chips, low-power co-processors and multilingual intelligence software, including language, speech, vision and large language model APIs for deployment on devices.

India has introduced schemes and incentives for semiconductor design, electronics manufacturing and AI research. Domestic firms have begun to invest in sensor modules, embedded software and locally designed boards for sectors such as automotive, industrial and consumer electronics.

Leadership statements

Brandworks chief executive Ishwar Kumhar said the collaboration aimed at a distinct role for India in smart hardware.

"India must define the future of smart hardware. By combining Brandworks' hardware execution with SandLogic's breakthrough AI, we are bringing powerful, secure, and language-smart intelligence into devices that touch everyday life across homes, workplaces, and mobility," said Kumhar, Chief Executive Officer, Brandworks Technologies.

SandLogic founder and chief executive Kamalakar Devaki said the partnership aligned with the company's approach to device-centric AI.

"Our mission is to make AI efficient, secure, and accessible. With Brandworks, we are transforming advanced chip and speech technology into meaningful consumer products that people can trust and rely on. This is India's moment to lead the world in edge-based AI innovation," said Devaki.

Product roadmap

The partners plan a first wave of co-developed AI hardware for release in 2026. They expect an initial focus on mobility, home technology and education products.

The companies intend to export the made-in-India AI hardware as production scales. They are targeting global markets for connected devices, including automotive, smart home and industrial equipment.

SandLogic has received recognition through the Aegis Graham Bell Award and the National Startup Award in India. The firm promotes a vision of "Intelligence at the Edge, Made in India" and works on technologies that embed AI in mobility, IoT and consumer devices.

Brandworks plans to deepen its engagement with overseas customers through industry events. The company will participate in CES 2026 in Las Vegas. It will present its automotive and electric mobility electronics portfolio to global original equipment manufacturers and ecosystem partners.

The CES showcase will highlight an expanding range of India-designed electronics for connected and electric vehicles. Brandworks and SandLogic both expect edge AI hardware designed in India to feature more widely in global product line-ups over the next product cycle.
