Siemens to acquire Wevolver, expanding global engineering reach

Today

Siemens Digital Industries Software has announced its intention to acquire Wevolver, a move that will expand the company's engineering audience reach and further enhance the Supplyframe product portfolio.

The acquisition is set to combine Wevolver's global network of hardware and software engineers with the Supplyframe Design-to-Source Intelligence (DSI) network, which engages more than 12 million electronic engineering and procurement professionals each month. Supplyframe, owned by Siemens since 2021, provides an intelligence resource for the electronics sector, collecting continual data on design intent, demand, supply, and risk factors.

By adding Wevolver's platform, Siemens aims to reach even more engineers who are researching future product designs. Wevolver specialises in delivering content and resources covering developments in semiconductors, robotics, artificial intelligence, and manufacturing processes. The platform reaches millions of engineers monthly via web and social channels, fostering a widespread community focused on technology innovation.

Steve Flagg, CEO and Founder of Supplyframe, commented on the acquisition: "The future of product development starts with smarter design decisions—and that means meeting engineers where innovation begins. By joining forces with Wevolver, we're not just expanding our reach; we're accelerating a new era of design-to-source intelligence that's collaborative, data-driven, and built for the speed of tomorrow's manufacturing."

The integration of Wevolver is expected to enhance opportunities for digital marketing, integrated campaigns, and go-to-market support and bolster content creation capabilities within the Supplyframe portfolio.

Bram Geenen, Chief Executive Officer of Wevolver, highlighted the convergence of the two platforms: "Supplyframe and Wevolver both support engineering professionals throughout their research, development, and supply chain journey. Together, we bring an even stronger value proposition to the global technology ecosystem, and will be the home for the global engineering community."

Ryan Crouch, Vice President of Sales of Media, eCommerce, and DesignSense Solutions at Supplyframe, added, "The addition of Wevolver to the Supplyframe portfolio further enhances Supplyframe's ability to help manufacturers and distributors present the latest technology to engineers when they are researching tomorrow's designs."

Siemens states that the transaction will strengthen its existing Design-to-Source Intelligence platform. It aims to offer manufacturers and distributors enhanced tools to reach an expanding community of engineering professionals at critical stages in product design and procurement.

Supplyframe's DSI platform uses billions of ongoing market data signals to provide intelligence on engineering, sourcing, and supply chain decisions, including new features focused on sustainability. The acquisition of Wevolver builds on Siemens' strategy of increasing digital and content-based engagement across the technology supply chain sector.

Siemens Digital Industries Software offers software, hardware, and services from the Siemens Xcelerator business unit. It supports organisations of all sizes with digital transformation to optimise product design, engineering, and manufacturing processes.

In its most recent financial year ending September 2024, Siemens reported revenue of EUR €75.9 billion and net income of EUR €9.0 billion, employing around 312,000 people worldwide. Expanding its engineering intelligence capabilities through the Wevolver acquisition is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen engagement with global engineering communities and facilitate more data-driven product development decisions.
