NetApp names Ranjit Kumar Singh India HR site leader
NetApp has appointed Ranjit Kumar Singh as Site HR Leader, India and Senior Director HR Business Partnering, strengthening its senior leadership team in the country.
Singh will oversee the people strategy for NetApp's India operations. He will also lead global HR business partnering initiatives from India.
The move highlights the increasing weight of India within NetApp's global footprint. The company runs major engineering and support functions from its Bangalore centre.
NetApp focuses on data infrastructure and data management software. Many global technology companies are expanding leadership benches in India as they deepen local operations.
Singh brings more than 19 years of experience in executive management and HR leadership. He has worked across the IT, pharmaceutical, and infrastructure sectors.
His background includes senior roles at VMware, Solara Active Pharma, Allergan, Sapient, Oracle, and GMR Group. He most recently served as Director of HR for India and sub-continent countries at Zebra Technologies.
At Zebra, Singh handled HR for multiple markets in the region. The role covered talent, engagement, and organisational initiatives across several countries.
NetApp said Singh will guide talent management and HR transformation in India. The remit includes leadership engagement, workforce planning, and development programmes.
The company also pointed to global HR business partnering work from the India base. This reflects a wider trend in which multinational firms use India as a hub for worldwide functions.
Leadership backing
NetApp's India leadership framed the appointment as part of its broader expansion in the country.
"We are delighted to welcome Ranjit to the NetApp leadership team. His rich experience in shaping people strategy and driving organizational transformation will be pivotal as we continue to strengthen our India presence and build a workplace culture that enables innovation, agility, and growth," said Vasanti Ramesh, Vice President & Engineering Head, NetApp India.
Ramesh oversees engineering operations for NetApp in India. The company runs product development and support functions from its Indian centres.
India has become a major base for global HR, finance, and engineering functions across the technology sector. Senior HR appointments in India now often carry global or regional responsibilities.
People-first focus
Singh linked his new role with changes in the wider technology industry.
"I am excited to join NetApp at a time of incredible transformation in the technology industry. I look forward to partnering with our leaders and teams to build on NetApp's strong people-first culture, while driving impactful talent strategies that empower employees and support the company's vision for growth in India and beyond," said Ranjit Kumar Singh, Site HR Leader, India & Senior Director HRBP.
NetApp has stated a focus on workplace culture and inclusion in recent years. The company has invested in employee development and hybrid work policies across its global offices.
Singh holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Personnel Management (HR) from the Xavier Institute of Social Services in Ranchi. His academic training is in human resources and people management.
The appointment underscores NetApp's emphasis on structured talent management in India. It also reflects a broader shift in which HR leaders play a more strategic role within technology firms.
India's growing role
India has become a strategic engineering and services base for many cloud and data infrastructure providers. Companies in this segment run large development offices in Bangalore and other Indian cities.
NetApp positions itself as an intelligent data infrastructure company. It provides data platforms and software for storage, protection, and management of data across cloud and on-premise environments.
Analysts have noted that such businesses rely heavily on specialised engineering talent. This has pushed companies to strengthen HR and leadership structures in markets with deep technical workforces.
NetApp has operated in India for more than a decade. Its India unit works on global products and supports customers across regions.
The company has said it seeks a workplace culture that supports innovation and agility. Senior HR appointments form part of that effort.
With Singh now in place, NetApp is expected to refine its people strategy in India and expand its HR business partnering programmes across its global operations.
