Walgo Infra powers Vodafone Idea’s 5G rollout across Karnataka

Today

Walgo Infra has provided critical infrastructure support for Vodafone Idea's recent launch of 5G services in Karnataka, enabling the telecom operator to extend next-generation connectivity across urban and rural areas throughout the state.

Sridhar Rao, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Walgo Infra, worked closely with Vodafone Idea as the company expanded its 5G network to new regions, helping Karnataka join other Indian states already covered by Airtel and Jio's 5G services. Vodafone Idea aims to continue its rollout, targeting every district and taluk in Karnataka.

"Connectivity is no longer a luxury - it is the lifeline of modern India. At Walgo Infra, our mission goes beyond building infrastructure, we are enabling digital inclusion at scale. This 5G launch with Vodafone Idea is not just about faster networks; it's a transformative step toward a smarter, more resilient Karnataka, where opportunity reaches every village, highway, and household. Through this partnership, we are laying the foundation for innovation in healthcare, education, and governance, by driving high-impact connectivity that fuels a holistic development. We are proud to lead this transformation in Karnataka and beyond," said Rao.

The launch in Bangalore's Vodafone Corporate Office is viewed as a milestone in Karnataka's digital transformation, promising to facilitate widespread access to high-speed internet for both urban dwellers and rural populations. Industry observers highlight the significance of this partnership in bridging connectivity divides that persist in less populated and low-revenue regions.

Bangalore's status as the centre of India's technology sector is reinforced with this step, marking another advance in the city's digital evolution. The extension of coverage by Walgo Infra, particularly in sparsely populated and previously underserved regions, is expected to improve continuity of communication and internet access across the state.

Karnataka focus

Walgo Infra operates not only in Karnataka but also in Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh, serving customers from diverse backgrounds, including students, small business owners, and travellers. The network provider's strategy centres on closing the connectivity gap in rural and low-income areas, supporting efforts to drive socioeconomic development.

Recent projects emphasise this commitment. In one instance, Walgo Infra installed 5G signal-boosting antennas at Karnataka's Vidhana Soudha, the legislative assembly building in Bangalore, without charging the government, thus improving communication for officials and visitors. Additionally, Walgo Infra implemented advanced 5G and data services at Mysore Medical College during its centenary celebrations, a move anticipated to enhance digital resources for students, staff, and patients.

Future plans

Walgo Infra is preparing to launch Air Fibre services and intends to collaborate with satellite internet providers, an effort aimed at extending high-speed connectivity further into the region. The company is also researching the integration of artificial intelligence into its network management, aiming to boost efficiency and security across its operations. These developments reflect Rao's vision to secure universal network coverage in Karnataka and surrounding states.

Sridhar Rao's approach has contributed to Walgo Infra's prominence in fibre connectivity nationwide, and the company continues to invest in technology that may underpin future telecommunications growth in India.

The partnership with Vodafone Idea and the resulting expansion of 5G across Karnataka is seen by stakeholders as a step towards inclusive growth, potentially providing new opportunities in sectors such as healthcare, education, and governance through enhanced digital infrastructure.

Walgo Infra's initiatives across public institutions, including free installations and support for major telecom rollouts, underscore the company's ongoing commitment to enhancing connectivity and access to digital services in India's southern states.
