Thesys has announced the launch of C1, an API designed to automate the creation of dynamic user interfaces using generative artificial intelligence.
C1 is presented as the world's first Generative User Interface (Gen UI) API, which allows development teams to convert outputs from large language models (LLMs) into adaptive interfaces in real time. The company states that this approach is intended to reduce costs and accelerate the timeline for enterprises to deploy artificial intelligence-powered software.
Conventional practices in building front-end applications for AI agents reportedly involve lengthy development cycles and significant resource allocation. This process can ultimately lead to static and inconsistent user experiences. Thesys claims that, despite investments, typical user interfaces limit the potential impact of AI due to their static and often command-line-based interaction styles.
Generative UI represents a shift from manually designed screens to interfaces generated directly by AI. According to Thesys, this leads to custom, interactive, and adaptive experiences that are created on demand for each user, streamlining engagement and operational efficiency.
Rabi Shanker Guha, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Thesys, addressed the market need for this kind of technology, stating: "For many enterprises, the front end has long been a bottleneck in deploying AI at scale. C1 integrates seamlessly with modern frameworks and languages, abstracting away UI complexity enabling teams to focus on the hardest problems. Enterprises adopting C1 see significantly accelerated product launches, optimized resource allocation, and measurable cost reductions."
Thesys designed the C1 API for compatibility with a broad range of modern technology stacks. The tool is positioned for both companies developing AI solutions from scratch and those enhancing existing applications. With its integration approach, teams can implement GenUI capabilities without needing to overhaul their current infrastructure.
Parikshit Deshmukh, Co-Founder and President of Thesys, commented on the broader implications for user experience: "AI is making software smart - and smart software deserves a smarter interface. Imagine if every app you opened was tailored just for you, in that moment - that's the power of Generative UI. It's the biggest shift since the advent of graphical user interfaces."
Thesys reports that more than 300 development teams, ranging from startups to large enterprises, are currently using its tools to build and deploy adaptive AI interfaces. The company is comprised of professionals with experience at technology firms such as Google, Stripe and Salesforce, and is collaborating with various organisations to support the development of AI-native software solutions.
The launch of C1 aligns with wider industry trends focused on the integration of generative AI technologies while maintaining a focus on usability and user-centric design. The API allows organisations to replace traditional approaches to interface design or visualise internal data by leveraging their existing language models through Thesys's framework.
