DCI Data Centers has appointed Sumit Mukhija as its new Chief Executive Officer.

Sumit Mukhija will lead DCI Data Centers' strategic direction and growth across Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, and target Asian markets. With a career spanning 30 years in the fields of information technology, cloud, data centres, and managed services, Mukhija brings extensive leadership experience to the role. DCI Data Centers is part of Brookfield Asset Management.

Prior to joining DCI Data Centers, Mukhija was the Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer at STT Global Data Centres. During his tenure, his focus included establishing the business in South Asia, including India, where he expanded the company to over 300 megawatts across 10 cities, achieving revenues of approximately USD $300 million.

Mukhija has also held senior leadership roles at multinational corporations including Microsoft, Cisco Systems, and Tata Group. He has actively contributed to industry committees and forums, playing a key role in shaping data centre and cloud computing standards and practices.

DCI Chair and Chief Executive Officer of Brookfield's Global Data Center group, Udhay Mathialagan, stated, "We are pleased to welcome Sumit Mukhija to DCI. His leadership and proven track record in driving growth, coupled with his focus on innovation and sustainability, will be instrumental in taking DCI to new heights. DCI has experienced significant growth during the past four years and we look forward to continuing to deliver exceptional value for public cloud and managed service providers, governments and enterprises, including hyperscalers across Asia Pacific."

Mukhija's appointment is a significant development for DCI Data Centers as the company aims to expand its presence in the competitive data centre market. The company currently operates five sites with more than 100 megawatts of capacity, in various stages of development, located in Sydney, Adelaide, Canberra, Auckland, and Seoul. Additionally, DCI has offices in Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, and Singapore. The company plans to further expand, with its Sydney campus alone having the potential to scale up to more than 200 megawatts.
