SPH Aviation partners with GDX Security on drone tech
SPH Aviation, a subsidiary of AVPL International, has entered into a strategic partnership with GDX Security Solutions to enhance aviation security using advanced drone technology.
The collaboration, formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), seeks to integrate cutting-edge drone technology into aviation operations, with goals of improving safety protocols and creating a skilled workforce through comprehensive drone training programmes.
The significant partnership addresses the demand for advanced drone applications and the need for skilled operators in the industry. Among the initiatives are the establishment of Remote Pilot Training Organizations (RPTOs), the introduction of Drone-as-a-Service (DaaS) solutions, and the undertaking of customised research and development projects. This joint effort is expected to drive innovation in security and operational efficiency and propel growth in skill development, job creation, and technological progress in India's drone and security sectors.
The MoU outlines several key components of the partnership, including the Drone Security Officer Training and Certification. SPH Aviation will lead a programme to train GDX Security's personnel as certified Drone Pilots, adhering to the guidelines outlined by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). This programme aims to equip GDX staff with skills required for advanced drone operations across various security scenarios.
In establishing a Remote Pilot Training Organization, SPH Aviation will assist GDX Security by managing documentation, liaising with regulatory bodies, and securing necessary approvals. This initiative seeks to standardise drone pilot training, thereby elevating the quality of talent and enhancing technical competencies within the sector.
The partnership also entails joint research and development projects, with SPH Aviation collaborating with GDX to develop customised drone solutions targeting specific security requirements. All research and development initiatives will move forward only with written consent from GDX, ensuring alignment with industry standards and operational needs.
The MoU includes a revenue-sharing framework for joint projects, in addition to an understanding regarding intellectual property rights, whereby both SPH Aviation and GDX Security will retain ownership of their respective proprietary technologies. This arrangement is designed to foster mutual growth while safeguarding proprietary technology.
Ms. Preeti Sharma, Director and Accountable Manager at SPH Aviation, commented on the partnership's strategic importance: "Our MoU with GDX Security Solutions is a major step forward in aligning the skills and operational readiness of security personnel with today's advanced drone technologies. This initiative not only strengthens the expertise within our industry but also addresses the growing need for skilled drone operators, creating substantial job opportunities in the sector."
Mr. Harshwardhan Sharma, Director Legal at GDX Security Solutions, also emphasized the potential of the collaboration: "As the drone industry enters a pivotal phase, our partnership with SPH Aviation is well-positioned to deliver groundbreaking advancements. By blending GDX's deep expertise in security solutions with SPH Aviation's innovation in drone technology, we aim to drive operational excellence in aviation security, create robust safety frameworks, and open up substantial employment opportunities that align with the industry's evolving demands."
This collaboration between SPH Aviation and GDX Security Solutions is set to lead advancements in aviation security by combining theoretical knowledge with practical skills to ensure industry readiness. The initiative is anticipated to generate job growth in the drone sector, meet the increasing demand for trained drone pilots, and establish a benchmark for future industry partnerships.
Through innovation and alignment with regulatory standards, SPH Aviation and GDX Security Solutions are poised to play a transformative role in the evolution of aviation security, marking a new chapter in India's drone and security landscape.
