NVIDIA unveils a generative AI supercomputer from just USD $249

Today

NVIDIA has unveiled the Jetson Orin Nano Super, a generative AI supercomputer offering enhanced performance at a reduced price of USD $249.

The Jetson Orin Nano Super provides hobbyists, developers, and students with significant performance gains in generative AI capabilities compared to its predecessor. The device is available for purchase now, featuring improvements including up to a 1.7x increase in generative AI inference performance, a 70% increase in performance to 67 INT8 TOPS, and a 50% increase in memory bandwidth to 102GB/s.

The new developer kit combines a Jetson Orin Nano 8GB system-on-module (SoM) and a reference carrier board, enabling prototyping of edge AI applications. It is designed to support generative AI models effectively, making it suitable for projects like large language model chatbots, visual AI agents, and AI-driven robotics.

The SoM is equipped with an NVIDIA Ampere architecture GPU with tensor cores and a six-core Arm CPU, allowing for multiple concurrent AI application pipelines and high-performance inference. It supports up to four cameras, offering higher resolution and frame rates than earlier models.

The software updates released will not only benefit new users of the Jetson Orin Nano Super but also enhance the performance of existing Jetson Orin Nano Developer Kit owners. Held upgrades transform generative AI inference capabilities, providing a considerable boost to those utilising the current systems.

NVIDIA's software ecosystem includes tools such as the NVIDIA AI software, NVIDIA Isaac for robotics, NVIDIA Metropolis for vision AI, and NVIDIA Holoscan for sensor processing. These tools help reduce development time with features like the NVIDIA Omniverse Replicator for synthetic data generation and the NVIDIA TAO Toolkit for fine-tuning pretrained AI models.

The Jetson ecosystem comprehensively supports development with extensive community resources and support for cutting-edge models from the open-source community, in addition to support from Jetson's partners who provide further AI and system software, developer tools, and custom software development options.

Developers working on generative AI, robotics, or computer vision can use the compact platform of the Jetson Orin Nano Super to transform concepts into applications. As the AI sector shifts from task-specific models to foundation models, this kit is positioned as an effective tool for aspiring developers looking to advance their skills in this fast-evolving landscape.

Jetson Orin Nano Super is pointed out by NVIDIA as an affordable and accessible development platform, making these advancements and supercharged updates available globally through authorised distributors. The company emphasises the ease with which existing kit users can unlock these improved capabilities with simple software upgrades.
