SonicWall maintains perfect threat efficacy in firewall testing
SonicWall has reported a second year of perfect results in independent firewall testing, posting a 100% threat block rate across all categories in the latest NetSecOPEN assessments.
Test results
The validation was carried out by the University of New Hampshire InterOperability Labouratory using the RFC 9411 benchmarking framework. SonicWall said the outcome places it ahead of rivals that did not achieve full marks in the same testing cycle.
The company stated that its position as the only vendor to secure a flawless score for two consecutive years shows its current standing in the market for network security devices. NetSecOPEN assessments are designed to measure firewall performance against a defined set of public and private CVE threats.
Vendor claims
SonicWall said its performance demonstrates the consistency of its security posture and the reliability of its product line. It said the results reflect both internal development work and the role of external validation in assessing network defence technologies.
"For more than 30 years, SonicWall has been dedicated to delivering network security solutions that our partners and customers rely on," said Bob VanKirk, President and CEO, SonicWall. "Achieving a 100% threat efficacy score for the second consecutive year underscores our ongoing commitment to product excellence and demonstrates the real-world effectiveness of our solutions. Independent validation like this reinforces why partners and customers trust SonicWall to protect their networks from the most advanced cyber threats."
Platform expansion
The company has broadened its portfolio beyond on-premise perimeter defence. It now offers a platform designed to cover user access, device integrity and cloud workloads. These additions include Secure Cloud Edge, Zero Trust access tools and the SonicSentry managed security service.
All components are integrated into its Unified Management Platform, which provides configuration and policy control across deployment models. SonicWall said this enables partners to support organisations operating in mixed environments that span office locations, cloud services and remote workforces.
Market positioning
The firm said its dual-year performance across both public and private CVE sets distinguishes its firewall as a heavily validated option for buyers assessing network protection technologies. It added that the evaluations demonstrate how its systems handle current threat patterns without requiring changes to hardware or policy design.
The company also said the results highlight the importance of sustained external testing, particularly for organisations facing increased attack volumes. SonicWall indicated that buyers are prioritising validation data when assessing products that need to perform consistently under load.
Partner focus
The firm emphasised that its strategy remains aligned to partner-led delivery. It has positioned its platform to support resellers and managed service providers that want to offer either product-based deployments or fully managed implementations.
This approach includes subscription-based services, device management and outsourced operation models. SonicWall said these options give partners flexibility when building service catalogues for customers aiming to consolidate or modernise their security architecture.
Ongoing activity
SonicWall said it has continued to develop its internal initiatives over the past year. This includes updates to its Secure by Design programme and additions to its firewall and cloud security portfolio. The firm said it has also received recognition from analysts and industry bodies.
It stated that this reflects an effort to respond to changes in corporate security requirements, including broader adoption of cloud platforms and higher expectations for verifiable performance metrics. Many organisations are seeking integrated systems that can be deployed without extensive redesign, and vendors are focusing on simplified management.
Market readiness
SonicWall said it expects the results to support its ongoing work with partners that deliver services to small, mid-sized and large organisations. It noted that customers across sectors are re-evaluating their defence posture as cyberattacks rise and that independent testing remains important in procurement processes.
The company said its ability to demonstrate consistent capabilities across two consecutive assessments provides buyers with clear data as they consider future investments in network defence.
"Achieving a 100% threat efficacy score for the second consecutive year underscores our ongoing commitment to product excellence and demonstrates the real-world effectiveness of our solutions," said VanKirk.
