Norton extends AI scam protection to all users with new features

Tue, 4th Nov 2025

Norton has announced the global rollout of its AI-powered Scam Protection to all Norton 360 and Norton mobile plans.

The solution now offers users advanced, real-time protection against scams across a range of platforms, including web, email, SMS, videos, and phone calls, in all markets where Norton products are sold. The company has stated that Scam Protection will be available at no extra charge to existing customers as part of several well-known Norton Cyber Safety products for both desktop and mobile devices, such as Norton AntiVirus Plus, Norton Mobile Security, and Norton 360 plans.

Threat landscape

According to Gen Threat Labs, scams remain one of the most persistent threats globally. The organisation found that social engineering threats-including scams-represented more than 80 percent of all recorded threats on desktop and mobile devices for the first three quarters of the year. On average, Gen reported blocking 110 social engineering-related attempts every second.

"We're making Norton AI-powered scam defense as universal as the scams themselves," said Leena Elias, Chief Product Officer at Gen. "By expanding Norton Scam Protection across every Norton market, we're not just rolling out technology - we're raising the bar for what online safety means: that no matter where you live, you deserve the same chance to protect yourself from sophisticated scams."

Expanded features

The latest version of Norton Scam Protection introduces a set of new and existing features aimed at countering increasingly complex online threats. Among the most notable additions is Deepfake Protection. This feature is designed to detect malicious AI-generated audio in English-language video content on both YouTube and Facebook, and is compatible with AI PCs for automatic user protection.

Norton's Safe Web offering extends defence to online shopping and browsing activities by identifying suspicious web content and websites. For mobile users, Safe SMS leverages the Norton Genie AI engine to identify and block sophisticated scams in text messages by analysing word choices often used by scammers. The Genie AI-powered Assistant has also been enhanced to provide instant scam guidance and advice on suspicious offers, including Deepfake Protection support for English-language YouTube content, as well as cyber safety recommendations and insights concerning Norton products.

For those who do not currently use Norton's commercial products, the Norton Private Browser remains available as a free option. It includes Safe Web Scam Protection, intended to help users block phishing attempts and create a safer online shopping environment.

Pro tier and availability

The company is also extending access to Norton Scam Protection Pro, the premium tier of its scam protection platform, to all Norton 360 Advanced plans globally. The upgraded Pro suite incorporates features such as Safe Email-which uses AI to identify hidden scam patterns in emails prior to the messages being opened-and Safe Call, which can block or label potentially malicious and spam calls to further support users in their daily activities.

Norton indicates that during the upcoming holiday season, Norton Mobile Scam Defence and Norton 360 Plus for Mobile will be available from selected retailers worldwide, designed to enable consumers to protect new mobile devices against scams from the outset.

System compatibility and requirements

The Deepfake Protection functionality in the Norton Genie AI Assistant is currently offered in an early access phase and at present is limited to scanning English-language YouTube videos. Automatic Deepfake Protection works only on YouTube and Facebook for videos in English. A manual scan can be conducted on other platforms. Users require a Windows Copilot+ PC with either a compatible Qualcomm or Intel processor and a supported browser to access these capabilities.
