IIT Gandhinagar & Futurense launch AI bootcamps for engineers

Fri, 14th Nov 2025

IIT Gandhinagar has launched what it describes as India's first fully residential postgraduate diploma programmes powered by generative AI, in cooperation with Futurense Technologies. These six-month courses are designed to prepare engineers with skills critical for India's evolving digital economy.

Programmeme structure

The diplomas span three specialisations: AI and Agentic AI Engineering, GenAI and Data Science Engineering, and AI-Powered Software Engineering with Cloud. The courses deliver over 600 hours of intensive, bootcamp-style instruction, designed to provide competency equivalent to two years of industry experience.

Participants will live on IIT Gandhinagar's GRIHA-rated campus and undergo a curriculum focused on a 'Build, Deploy, Scale' approach. Learning is divided into 70% project-based activity and 30% faculty-led instruction. Mentorship is provided by IIT Gandhinagar faculty and industry professionals from Fortune 500 firms.

Selection process

The programmes are not open to all applicants. They are available to a group of 60 students per diploma, selected through the All India National Proficiency Test (AINPT) and a multi-stage interview process. This approach targets high-achieving and motivated candidates seeking advanced technical training.

Students are expected to gain practical engineering experience through extensive projects, participation in an AI clinic, hands-on product deconstruction, competitive coding, and problem-solving exercises.

Industry alignment

The collaboration with Futurense Technologies aims to enhance industry relevance by linking academic content with the demands of enterprise system deployment.

Futurense provides forums such as the AI Clinic, where learners interact with senior technical leaders from Fortune 500 companies to tackle real engineering challenges. The Futurense Leadership Council provides additional mentorship from over 40 global CXOs and CTOs, while the Breakfast Club alumni network facilitates ongoing professional development.

Career prospects

Graduates of these diplomas will be eligible for 100% placement support, provided they meet the performance requirements throughout the programme. They will also gain executive alumni status and access to IIT Gandhinagar's extended professional network.

"At IIT Gandhinagar, our mission is to build future-ready talent for and from India, professionals who do not just learn technology but apply and create with it. These programs combine real-world engineering depth, hands-on innovation, and a fully immersive IIT campus experience that shapes the next generation of India's tech workforce," said Prof. Rajat Moona, Director, IIT Gandhinagar.

Raghav Gupta, Founder & CEO at Futurense, described the partnership's aims: "IIT Gandhinagar represents the new generation of India's IITs, agile, applied, and innovation-first. Through this collaboration, we are building engineers who can think in systems, not silos."

The initial intake for the new programmes will commence through the AINPT, aiming to graduate engineers with immediately deployable skills relevant to enterprise and cloud-based AI environments.
